The perfect forty-eight hours at Crown Perth

Dinner Friday, the salon after, brunch and a show Saturday, and a slow Sunday. How our concierge maps the weekend guests keep asking for.

Crown Perth at night from the river

People fly in for this weekend regularly enough that the concierge has a map for it. Here's the version we send to guests who ask for 'the full thing' in one itinerary.

Friday, 19:00: arrive, check into Crown Towers, and take the ten-minute walk to the restaurant with the river on your left. The 19:30 seating catches the room at its best, full but not yet loud.

Dinner is the tasting menu or the à la carte card, your call. What matters is telling the concierge by Wednesday that you want salon access after: the host collects you at 22:30 and the evening changes registers.

The trick to a good casino weekend is that the casino is the dessert, not the dinner.

Saturday, hour by hour

Sleep in. Brunch runs at the bakery corner until eleven, and the wattleseed croissant alone justifies the morning. Then the resort: the pool deck, the spa, or a walk to Burswood parklands if the weather behaves.

Evening two has options. A show at the Crown Theatre pairs with the early seating; a poker evening books for six players minimum; or the jazz and oysters event at the counter covers both dinner and entertainment at $120.

Friday: 19:30 dinner, 22:30 salon handover, sleep well.

Saturday: brunch at the bakery, then the resort or the parklands.

Saturday night: a show, a poker table or jazz at the counter.

Sunday, and the mistakes to avoid

Sunday is the day people underestimate. The roast lunch is the best-kept secret on the card, and the Sunday salon sessions run early enough to catch a late flight out.

The mistakes: booking the salon for Saturday when Friday is quieter, skipping breakfast for the early table, and never leaving the resort when the parklands sit ten minutes away. The weekend works best when the resort is home base, not the whole map.
